The town of Archer Lodge in North Carolina has just approved its first zoning maps, up until this point, they had been using the Johnston County zoning map and there were some minor changes made.
Neighboring Towns To Archer Lodge
The town, North Carolina’s newest, is located in the northwestern part of Johnston County, NC it has as its closest neighbors the towns of Clayton, Wendell and the Development of Flowers Plantation, it is also just beside the Wake/Johnston border. It was because of the ever encroaching and expanding towns that residents decided to preserve the 150 year old community and make it an official town which happened in 2010.
Residential & Agriculture Is The Makeup Of The Town
So how is the town divided up and what do zoning maps mean to residents or future residents of Archer Lodge? The majority of the town is zoned AR which is agriculture residential followed by various residential restrictions. The town will not, at least for the foreseeable future have any large scale commercial or industrial projects as the only zoning other than residential is for O & I which is Office and Institutional, meaning doctors offices and small retail stores.
Growth Is All Around
So Archer Lodge will remain a small, primarily agricultural and residential town preserving what it has always been, all be it with a lot more residents than ever before and surrounded by much larger towns. The towns of Clayton, Smithfield, Garner and Raleigh all within a short drive of Archer Lodge have expanding employment opportunities and it’s inevitable some will want to live is just such a town.
