The best weather of the year and you are looking for something to do outside. Head over to the State Fairgrounds for the got to be NC Festival. The festival runs from Friday May 16th- Sunday May 18th and opens at 9 AM Saturday and Sunday. It’s free to get in and free to park, the festival is a celebration of agriculture in North Carolina and is packed with demonstrations, tractors, food and rides for the whole family to enjoy.
Family Fun In Raleigh At The Got To Be NC Festival
If you would like to see chicks hatching from eggs, get up close and personal with a massive Texas Longhorn and her calf or watch a goat get milked you can do all this at the agri-plaza. Piglet racing and pony rides will be going on too.If tractors are your thing you won’t be disappointed as there are hundreds of antique tractors of all shapes and sizes. Antique tractor pulls on Saturday and garden lawnmower pulls on Sunday, cause that’s what you do with a ride on mower.
Lumberjack Face Off
All weekend there is a great lumberjack demonstration with the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show who casually throw axes at a bulls eye target, pair off in a two man saw versus a chainsaw, and do some log rolling to the delight of the kids. The Raleigh Flea Market is expanding for the weekend which on any weekend is a great way to spend some time strolling through the stalls. The Chatlee Boat show is going on as is the Wake County and District 4-H Horse Shows at the Hunt Horse Complex, the Independent Labrador specialty Dog Show is on Saturday and Sunday.
Food, Wine And Beer From North Carolina
The Got To Be NC Food Wine and Beer Expo has food companies, breweries and NC wineries offering samplings of their products, this is $2 for adults and that gets you 24 coupons…or you could buy an $8 Gyro. Speaking of food, there is no shortage of food vendors through out the festival and the Midway!
And Of Course The Midway Rides
Yes the carnival rides are out in force on the Midway with over 30 rides, this is a paid event and you can get an all day pass for $20 and fireworks are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 9.15 PM. The Festival is like a mini State Fair but it’s free and you could spend the whole day there with lots to see and hear .
