Johnston County Senior Games 2014
The Johnston County Senior Games got under way yesterday with a ceremony at Clayton High School. There was a great crowd of seniors in attendance on a perfect sunny and warm Spring North Carolina day. Maybe the weather had something to do with it but there was lots of laughter and smiles all around from the participants. Something tells me they’re always like this when they get together.
Active Seniors Making Friends And Taking Names

Along with official sports you might expect to find there are also Silver Arts which includes Heritage Arts ~ Literary Arts ~ Visual Arts ~ Performing Arts. The number of seniors and active adults in the area continues to grow as people age in place or they decide they’ve had enough of the cold and relocate to Johnston County It is wonderful to see the local communities providing the facilities and events to encourage folks to get out and be active and in the mean time meet all kinds of friends and like minded people. The Town of Clayton has a magnificent new Community Center located at 715 Amelia Church Road, Clayton, NC (919) 553-1550 which is right behind the Lowes Foods, CVS shopping center on Hwy 70, just go up Shotwell Road. Every time I have been there I have seen seniors enjoying the indoor walking track, plus they have art studios and Pottery classes.
