Food At The NC State Fair.
Lets talk about the food at the Fair and what outrageous delight they will be offering up to shock peoples sugar and cholesterol levels through the roof. I must admit I’ve never tried any of the deep-fried offerings except for the fries and this year will be no different. Despite the attention each year given to the most bizarre deep fried treat you can imagine there is a lot of great food to be had at the Fair and it covers all the main food groups…sort of. If you want to save some money for the rides, pack a lunch just leave the beer and wine at home. Here are some of the food items that will be available at this years State Fair…
- Deep Fried Smores
- High on the Hog (look it up)
- Deep Fried Jalapeño Pimento Cheese and Bacon Hushpuppies with Sriracha Bang Bang Dipping Sauce (I kid you not)
- Pb & J Chicken Wings
- Deep Fried Peanut Butter Pickle & Deep Fried Bacon Wrapped Tootsie Roll
- Bubba’s Bacon on a Stick Grilled in Maple Syrup
- Deep Fried Klondike Bar
- The Garbage Burger
- Deep Fried Pop Tarts
I might try the bacon on a stick, looks decent enough.

You can park for free on any of the State Fair, Carter-Finley Football Stadium and PNC Arena properties but you’ll want to get there early to avail of the free parking. Many of the local business’s and homeowners near the Fairgrounds open their lots to fair goers and the price ranges from $5-$10 with no rhyme or reason to the price. There are lots of park and ride stations set up around the Triangle where you can beat the parking rush and take a Go Raleigh, Go Durham or Go Triangle bus for $4-$5 per person. You can even take the train which leaves Charlotte at 7 am and stops at Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham and Cary and drops you off right outside the main gates to the Fair at 10.08 am.
