Triangle of North Carolina
I am so used to calling the area we live in as the Triangle as are most people who have lived here for 6 months or more, but I try not to use the term when I am writing about the area. The reason is that most people who are researching this part of the state have no clue what the Triangle is or where it is. People are more often than not looking for information about Raleigh, Durham, Clayton, Holly Springs, Cary or any number of other towns that make up what is known as the Triangle.
What is the Triangle of North Carolina?
So what or where is the Triangle of North Carolina? The Triangle was originally coined to describe Research Triangle Park and got it’s name for the triangle positioning of the three universities of NC State, Duke and UNC Chapel Hill. These local universities help fuel the workforce and partner to provide research facilities to companies moving to the park. Nowadays the term ” The Triangle” describes the area surrounding those three Universities and depending on who you ask can mean as few as three counties but more likely up to 8 counties.
