The Triangle Business Journal recently did a story about the most expensive homes sold in the Triangle in 2012 and it made me think about the luxury home market here in Johnston County. I did not expect anything like the prices paid for the most expensive homes in the Triangle which went from $1.825M all the way up to $4.2M ( apparently a steal!)
The Priciest Homes Sold in Johnston County in 2012
The most expensive homes sold in Johnston County according to the Triangle MLS were all more or less within a five mile radius of the Flowers Plantation/Portofino neighborhoods. There was a large estate property of 33 acres in Four Oaks that sold for $543,000, other than that the neighborhoods with the most expensive homes sold in 2012 were, Portofino, Flowers Plantation, Glen Laurel, Ole Mill Stream and The Falls at Norwood.

Of the top ten, eight were new construction and three were pre sales, The most expensive property sold went for $650,000, while the least expensive, most expensive home sold was $520,886. So Johnston County has a ways to go to get to the multi million dollar properties found in the Raleigh Market… but no rush, Johnston County has always been a place to get more house for the money and so if you’d rather hang on to some of yours and are in the luxury market you should check us out. Twenty five minutes to Downtown Raleigh, two hours to the beach, forty minutes to the airport by car, less in a helicopter!

These homes are only the ones listed in the MLS so there are a few multi-million dollar homes in Johnston County, you just can’t see them for the trees.
