Wine on Main
The new store at 459 East Main Street in Clayton opened a couple of months ago and is already developing a fan base with their excellent wine selection at prices to suite all budgets. Wine tastings on Tuesdays and Wine 101 classes are just a few of the great ways to experience the wine selection available and learn about wine in a relaxed easy going atmosphere.
Great Selection at Affordable Prices
You won’t find most of these wines at the grocery store but they don’t cost an arm and a leg either. Owner Mandy Tamplin spent fourteen years as a wine distributor and has stocked the store with wines she knows and loves and it shows. Together with her two partners Temple Phipps and Clark Hipolito they have transformed a former home into a first class wine store. The wines range in price from $7.99 to $100 so there is something for everyone. The list of available wines is always changing as they add wines to the list so if you’re ready to try some new wines and do some exploring with expert advise this is the place to start. Wines from France, Italy, Germany, Spain and of course California and Oregon in the States along with many more countries and regions know for wine production throughout the world.
Wine Tastings in Clayton, NC
Taking an informal class like Wine 101 is the best way to discover more about wine, learn the different characteristics, figure out what you like and why. The real benefit is it opens you up to a whole new world of wine varieties that you may have been unsure of or knew nothing about and were afraid to try. The classes are held every two weeks and are taught by Eric Tansey who I worked with at Total Wine and believe me he knows his stuff. Eric is entertaining, knowledgable and his classes are a lot of fun at which you will learn much about wines.
Wine Growers From Italy in Clayton
Wine on Main will often bring in wine distributors and growers to show off their wines at tastings on Tuesdays from 5-7 and last Saturday they had a special tasting with a wine grower from the Castenedolo region in Northern Italy.
